3D design and the power of visual persuasion
My first Packaging design Project!
My project challenges negative perceptions of locusts through comprehensive research, highlighting their ethical viability, cost-effectiveness, and nutritional value. To address societal aversion to bugs, I position the product as a daring novelty or party game, targeting the 18-30+ age group. Drawing from survey insights, the design strategy employs a tongue-in-cheek narrative, emphasizing packaging, peer influence, flavor, and alignment with adventurous archetypes. The packaging blends contemporary trends with traditional elements and vibrant colors, enhancing visibility. Flavors tailored for the South African market include bobotie, chakalaka, and chocolate. The playful branding of 'Locolocusts' and slogan "Take a bite, I dare ya" invite consumer engagement. Illustrations featuring anthropomorphic locusts at a braai eating human fingers resonate humorously with older audiences through subversion.
